Yes… the City of Chicago has a program to help. Google has an internal group called VetNet that exists to help support their veteran employees. They, along with quite a few more entities I’ve found have programs built around helping vets transition to civilian lives.
I found a couple references to Equine (horse) programs that were very helpful to veterans going through this extremely stressful part of life. I remember being younger (once…a long time ago), and spending time with the horses on my grandfather’s ranch. The horses were magnificent so I can easily imagine why they may be beneficial to a veterans in easing the transition.
There are so many resources out there, so much learning happening (thank goodness!) and so much available to us, sometimes we just need to find it. Other times, we just need to read it again…I had forgotten all about the Equine programs, and there’s one very near to me in Texas… So please, for your veteran’s sake, take a moment to look at these programs…
